Keen anglers can enjoy the abundance of wild brown trout and grayling The Elan Valley Trail is a hidden gem with surfaced paths following the route of the old railway line; ideal for walkers and cyclists with cycle hire available at the Elan Valley Visitors Centre within 1 mile of the property. Further afield is Rhayader said to be the oldest town in mid Wales and home to the Red Kite feeding station or visit Powys Castle a medieval fortress perched high on a rock above its world-famous garden terraces. Ty Newydd is one of seven luxury self catering cottages on The Bodnant Estate near Conwy in North Wales. The other properties are Bryn Rhydd: four guests, Lletty: six/eight guests, Ty Cerrig: seven guests, Garth Iwrch: four guests, Ty Ucha'r Ffordd: two guests and Tyddyn Derwen: five guests.

Bodnant Garden, the world famous garden owned by the National Trust, is central to the Estate and within one to two miles' walking distance from the properties.

A perfect outdoor break, the Bodnant Estate is privately owned and this holiday farmhouse lies off a single track lane from where there are glorious walks along private paths through woods and across farmland on the Bodnant Estate. Bodnant Garden is open 361 days a year.

Ty Newydd is a detached, period holiday farmhouse, occupying a prominent position with breathtaking views over the Conwy estuary, over the Eglwysbach Valley and toward the Mountains of the Snowdonia National Park.

There are many attractions and places to visit in this part of Wales. Within a 20-minute drive is the elegant Victorian seaside resort of Llandudno. Also the sandy beaches of Conwy, Penmaenmawr and Colwyn Bay are within about a 15-minute drive. Snowdonia National Park is on the doorstep, including the Swallow Falls near Betws-y-Coed and Snowdon. The summit of Snowdon can be reached via the mountain train from Llanberis. A number of Welsh castles including Conwy, Caernarfon, Beaumaris, Harlech, Dolwydellan, Denbigh and Rhuddlan are within easy striking distance.
