Accommodation overview: With superb views over the pretty harbour and sandy beach of Polperro, this extensive and beautiful 3 storey 18th-century double-fronted captain’s cottage (house three windows wide in centre of photograph) has retained many original features and seafaring memorabilia and offers excellent facilities, with each bedroom boasting its own en-suite bath/shower room. Set as the end house in a sunny row, on the Cornish Coastal Path, with its own furnished garden, it is just moments from the harbour, beach (opposite) and wide variety of restaurants, forming an ideal base for a family seaside holiday. Polperro itself is a delightful little fishing port, with whitewashed cottages lining narrow alleys, and an assortment of shops selling local crafts and freshly caught seafood, together with a wide selection of characterful pubs and restaurants. The sheltered bays of Talland, Lantivet and Lantic all offer excellent swimming and bathing against a backdrop of towering cliffs, whilst the scenic Cornish Coastal path winds right by the holiday cottage, leading visitors through stunning scenery, much of which is National Trust land. The abundance of vineyards, orchards and gardens in the region are a tribute to the mild climate, with the spectacular Eden Project and Lost Gardens of Heligan within half an hour’s drive. Equidistant is the ancient fishing port of Mevagissey, its double harbour a colourful array of traditional vessels and pleasure craft. For those who can bear to tear themselves away from the coast, there are many wonderful attractions further inland – such as Bodmin Moor and the Slate Caverns near St Neot. Plymouth 25 miles. Fishing, sailing, riding, tennis and golf available locally. Shops 250 yards, pubs within a few minutes’ walk.
