The glorious sandy beach of Westward Ho! is a 15 minute drive. The surfing paradise of Croyde Woolacombe and Saunton are a little further being about a 1 hour drive. The farm is surrounded by farmland which visitors are welcome to walk and explore. There are a number of circular walks direct from the property which takes in the excellent Hunters Inn at the nearby village of Newton Tracey being less than 4 miles away and serving good food it is an ideal way to build up your appetite. The Manger was once a stable. Its original stalls, hay rack, troughs and loft have been retained and the necessary modern additions to create a luxury holiday cottage have been gently inserted. The loft stair allows an open aspect through to the apex of the roof. There are lime-washed walls and gentle lighting. The terrace offers uninterrupted views down to the river and stretching several miles along and across the spectacular Yarty River valley with its pattern of small irregular fields and copses.
Enveloped by accessible woodlands, apple orchards and farm fields, The Manger lies at the end of a long,shared drive, amidst hedge-lined winding lanes. Badgers, deer,rabbits, (40 species of moth were counted on a June evening) and various birds of prey are commonly seen. A weir pool with a salmon ladder lies along one of the many footpaths nearby and a bluebell wood is a short walk away. Within five miles there are three superb local family run farm shops, the River Cottage Canteen, and a choice of nearby pubs renowned for good food and beer.

Longborough has delightful views over the Evenlode valley. There are plenty of walks across marvellous countryside, including the Monarch's Way and the Heart of England Way. This peaceful village, which is within a conservation area, has a shop and a traditional pub. Longborough lies between the historic towns of Moreton-in-Marsh and Stow-on-the-Wold, which have quality shops, pubs and restaurants.
Longborough is a good base from which to visit Sezincote gardens, the Cotswold Farm Park, Batsford Arboretum and Falconry Centre and Sudeley Castle. Longborough Festival Opera in late June and July is a worthwhile visit.

Accommodation overview: A traditional terraced cottage in the colourful village of Cawsand on the Rame Peninsula where the pretty little beach which offers safe bathing and all the village amenities are only a couple of minutes walk away. Set in an area of outstanding natural beauty with spectacular walks along the coastline to Rame Head, the cottage is tucked into a narrow winding street that actually forms part of the South West Coast Path.
The front door leads directly into a cosy open plan living room which takes up the whole of the ground floor with a rustic dining table and comfortable seating next to an electric log effect fire and there is a smart fitted kitchen area at the rear with a dark laminate wood floor. In one corner of the kitchen, rather steep stairs lead up to the first floor where there are a bathroom W.C. with hand basin and shower over the bath and two bedrooms, a small room has a 3ft single and a 2ft 4in childs bed and a double bedroom which has a decorative fireplace, both with low doorways.
A further steep staircase with a door at the bottom leads up to a good size loft room with a futon sofa bed as an alternative sleeping arrangement, oblique sea views between the rooftops from a skylight window and plenty of floor space for children to play.
Parking is in the pay and display village car park about 500 yards away and there are a selection of shops, pubs and restaurants both in Cawsand and Kingsand within a five minute stroll. The sheltered cove is popular for swimming and water sports and a summer ferry runs from Plymouth landing on Cawsand beach. Antony House and Mount Edgcumbe Park are within a few minutes drive and fishing, bird watching, golf and horse riding are all available locally.
