Accommodation overview: Very attractive character cottage in a beautiful riverside location West Somerton is a small Broadland village tucked into a quiet corner of East Norfolk, super for all bird-watching enthusiasts! It has been featured in the BBC Coast programme and quoted by Nicholas Crane "as my favourite place on the Norfolk Broads". Certainly West Somerton has one of the prettiest Staithes. Families will enjoy days out at the many attractions in the area: try Bewilderwood, great adventure for the children, or a day cruising the Broads. The sandy beaches at Winterton and Horsey are only two miles away, with the bustling seaside resort of Great Yarmouth a little further.
River's End is in an enviable position overlooking the pretty village staithe and is ideal for groups of adults, extended families or for two families sharing. Lose yourself in the wildlife; several species of rare birds are regular visitors. Otters and water voles are about. Martham Broad Nature Reserve, situated on the River Thurne is one of the Broad's largest at over 101 acres and a Site of Special Scientific Interest is only 200 yards from the cottage. Waxham, Hickling and Horsey are nearby. The position of River's End is ideal for cycling, canoeing and coarse fishing. Winter birding is very good. The interior is light, comfortable and relaxing and features a spacious and very well-equipped farmhouse kitchen/dining room and a first floor sitting room offering lovely views. Shop/Pub: 1.5 miles

Brundall lies on the banks of the River Yare which is great for fishing and exploring the waterways on a boat cruise. In the heart of the Broads there are wonderful opportunities for walking and bird watching. The coast is a short distance and easily accessible. The magnificent city of Norwich is a great place to shop, view historic sites and offers a wealth of cultural opportunities. The village has some great facilities including an award-winning restaurant. Braydeston Cottage is an attractive 17th century thatched cottage with an abundance of character including exposed timbers, decorative fireplaces and leaded windows. Matt shall lies in the very heart of Norfolk, central to many of the county's attractions. There are a number of footpaths in the area with both fishing and golf available within four miles of the village. The market town of Dereham is five miles away and offers a good range of shops, restaurants and pubs as well as having a cinema and a sports centre. Matt shall itself has village shops and a pub, with a restaurant in Yaxham one and a half miles away. Wayfarers Cottage is a very pleasant converted stable, which retains many original features. It is located next to a small wooded area on the owner's working farm, with access on request to their one acre attractive garden, which is home to waterfowl and free-roaming peafowl. The coast is only five miles away and the choice is quite diverse from the sandy beaches of Cromer and Sheringham, both Blue Flag, to the shingle of Salthouse and the marshes of Blakeney and Cley. The ruins of Baconsthorpe Castle can be found in the adjoining village; alternatively you could walk to Selbrigg Lake where the River Glaven rises.
