Nearby there are privately owned fishing lakes at Barford with day tickets available. The quieter seaside resorts of Southwold and Aldeburgh can be reached within an hour or the famous Broads for day boat hire are within easy reach as is the fine city of Norwich with theatres a castle museums and a cathedral. Swallows Barn is situated at Seat Farm, Howtown 400 yards from the northern shore of Ullswater, beneath Barton Fell and High Street.
