The market town of Lockerbie is 2.5 miles away with a good selection of shops, pubs and hotels. The Solway Coast is famous for its beaches and cliff top walks as well as inland forest, woodland and hill walking. The cliffs to the north are home to a variety of sea birds and a nature reserve has been set up there. St Abbs is still an active fishing harbour and is also a diving centre. This old fisherman's cottage has lovely views to the sea - smaller side windows face the harbour and the owner thoughtfully provides a telescope for visitors to watch all the quayside activities. The cottage is light, airy and comfortable, with much homely character and charm, ideal for a family holiday. At the front of the cottage, beside a path down to the harbour, there is a patio area with garden seat, a sun-trap for outdoor relaxing.
