Accommodation overview: This delightful traditional fisherman's cottage is one of a terrace of three built in the unique local "gable to sea" style. The cottage is in a truly delightful setting just across the road from the waters of the Moray Firth, where dolphins play and fishing boats come and go. A short walk along this shoreline is a sandy beach and the Strathlene links golf course, while on the higher level of the village are local shops and inns.
Portessie is adjacent to the bustling deep sea fishing port of Buckie which has excellent facilities and is one of a string of picturesque old fishing villages, each with its own character and each worth visiting. All along the coast are links golf courses, sheltered beaches, rocky coves and spectacular cliffs, while inland are pretty little market towns set amidst fertile farmland, the Speyside Whisky Trail and the Aberdeenshire Castle Trail. There are wonderful views over the Laigh of Moray and the cottages share a large grassed garden with patio and garden chairs, adjacent to the owner's holiday home. The cottage interiors are well-maintained with comfortable homely furnishings. There are many National Trust Properties in the area, ancient fishing villages along the coast and the famous Whisky Trail.
