Accommodation overview: An Talla is a charming seaside cottage situated in the picturesque fishing village of Rockfield. Originally the village gospel hall, from which it takes its Gaelic name, An Talla has been sympathetically and attractively converted and refurbished to provide a high standard of accommodation in a superb location. It is situated right on the waters edge, with gardens leading directly on the sand and shingle beach. With dolphins, porpoises and a wide variety of seabirds spotted directly from the cottage windows it is truly the quintessential seaside holiday cottage. Most of the accommodation is on the ground floor. A bright and spacious lounge opens onto a conservatory-style dining area. Accommodation overview: Bayview House was built in the 1920s as a traditional croft house. It has recently been tastefully and sympathetically upgraded and renovated with bright modern bathrooms and kitchen and beautifully coordinated soft furnishings throughout the attractive bedrooms. An original open fireplace in the lounge with lovely deep leather sofas makes this a warm welcoming room at the heart of the house. The views from all the main windows, upstairs and down are arguably some of the most spectacular on Skye with sweeping vistas across Fiskavaig Bay and beyond to the tops of Macleods Tables mountains. Amazing! A two minute walk leads down to the pretty bay, with sand and shingle beach. On the ground floor there is a cosy lounge, separate large dining room, modern family bathroom and well-equipped kitchen. Upstairs there are two good sized bedrooms and one small bedroom and a further shower room with WC and wash basin. Bayview House is set on the hillside in its own gently sloping garden grounds. The very quiet lane is a no through road and leads down to the shoreline.

Accommodation overview: This modern detached house, built by the MacPherson family, is on the site of an old crofthouse which was destroyed by fire - it enjoys magnificent views over the sea to Handa Island and across the woodland to the mountains. Unusual in style, the spacious and bright living rooms are on the upper level to take advantage of the views, with a large veranda where guests can sit out and enjoy this very tranquil and scenic location. The interior is comfortably furnished, ideal for a family holiday. The house stands in a small cultivated garden which is safely enclosed.
Drumbeg (2 miles away), is a small crofting township and makes a wonderful base to explore some of the most dramatic scenery in Scotland - the complex geology of Knockan Crag attracts enthusiasts from around the world and the Suilven and Quinag mountain ranges are excellent challenges for experienced hill-walkers. The Island of Handa is a nature reserve and boat trips can be taken to see the spectacular seabird colonies. Trout and salmon fishing can be arranged locally, Lochinver is a busy fishing port and the area boasts some wonderful beaches to explore on sunny days. Shops, pub/hotel 2 miles.

Accommodation overview: Dunbeath is a pretty little village, an old crofting/ fishing community, birthplace of the renowned Scottish writer Neil Gunn, and has a fascinating history. The local Heritage Centre has a vast amount of archaeological and historic interest. Close to the A9, this is a perfect choice for touring with day trips possible to John O' Groats and the Orkney Isles, or to the rugged northwest coast. There is a choice of golf courses within easy reach or you can enjoy bird watching, tennis, pony trekking, hill walking and climbing. Follow the River Helmsdale inland to visit the site of Scotland's own gold rush when prospectors descended on Strath Kildonan in 1869. Nowadays, the clear waters of the Highland streams and lochs attract trout fishermen for excellent sport.
