Accommodation overview: Spectacularly situated high above the pretty village of Beauly, this cottage enjoys magnificent views out to the Beauly Firth and Inverness. The property is furnished, equipped and decorated to a very high standard and offers comfortable warm accommodation. There is ample parking, a secure fenced garden with sun-house and a lockable shed for storing bikes. As one double bedroom and bathroom are on the ground floor, it may be suitable for guests with limited mobility.
The pretty village of Beauly is 1.5 miles away - its floral displays have won many awards and there are shops and many good places to eat out. Beauly is very centrally positioned, 14 miles from the Highland capital of Inverness and less than an hours drive from the West Coast. Loch fishing, golf and pony trekking can be arranged locally, for skiing Aviemore is within easy reach, and in summer there are the lovely beaches of the Moray Firth coastline. Local attractions include Glen Ord Distillery and the Moniack Castle Winery, or take a boat trip on Loch Ness for a pleasure boat trip.

Lybster has excellent hotels, local shops, a golf course and a scenic harbour situated in a delightful bay. The busy port of Wick is 15 miles north and John o'Groats and the Orkney ferry terminal at Scrabster are both under an hour's drive, offering fascinating day trips. There are picturesque villages, rocky coves and clean beaches all along this magnificent coastline while inland are unspoiled moors and mountains including the mysterious Strath of Kildonan where gold is still panned in the river. Extensive walking and hill loch fishing are amongst the local activities available.

The cottage is 1/4 of a mile off the A9 and two miles from the quaint old fishing village of Dunbeath, which has a fascinating Heritage Centre, village shop and pub. There are other pub/restaurants in the neighbouring coastal villages while the excellent shops and facilities of the bustling fishing port of Wick are a 1/2 hour drive. Local activities include golf, river and sea angling, walking, climbing and trekking and there are many sand and shingle beaches, or perhaps try gold-panning at Strath of Kildonan. The bird reserves of the isolated and deserted Flow Country are nearby and this is also an ideal base for exploring the far north of Scotland - John o'Groats and the Orkney ferry are within reach for intriguing days out.

Accommodation overview: Sheenas Cottage is a traditional croft cottage that has been beautifully restored and updated by the current owner. It is situated on the lovely Isle of Raasay, just a 15 minute ferry ride off the coast of Skye. A regular small car ferry runs all year round from central Skye (Sconser) across the Sound of Raasay to the island, with ten sailings a day from March to October. Sheenas Cottage offers a wonderful venue for a real small island adventure holiday whilst remaining easily accessible to the centre of Skye. Once a croft or small farm cottage the property has been beautifully restored and upgraded. The welcoming lounge / dining room has a superb open fireplace and windows overlooking the large natural garden grounds that lead directly down to the sea-shore. It is bounded by mature rhododendron bushes which look spectacular when in the Spring and early Summer. Accommodation overview: Burnside Cottage is situated on a south facing hillside above the small Highland village of Bonar Bridge in Sutherland. It enjoys lovely views across the Kyle of Sutherland to the hills and mountains beyond. The cottage was originally built in the 19th century, adjoining earlier croft buildings and has since been sympathetically extended and recently upgraded to provide bright and spacious accommodation throughout. The cottage is surrounded by its own large, mature garden grounds, which are a real feature of the property. Lawned areas are interspersed with pretty shrubs, mature trees and attractive old stone patios. A conservatory along the length of the cottage provided an excellent viewing point over the gardens and surrounding hills and valleys. With an open plan kitchen/ breakfast/ living room, separate formal dining room and cosy lounge with lovely open fireplace, all with superb views, it offers very generous accommodation in a beautiful setting.
