Accommodation overview: A superb example of our English heritage, Underfield Cottage sits within the Underfield Estate, Greenodd, only 8 miles from Coniston and within 5 miles of Fell Foot, Windermere. Built in 1646, the cottage displays a wealth of architectural detail including exposed beams, intricate panelling and stone mullion windows, all protected under Grade II star status.Set in over 40 acres of woodland, the grounds offer the opportunity to be at one with nature, the ancient rhoddedendrons creating a wash of colour across the landscape intermingled with well established trees and shrubs, the lower stems of which attract local deer and other native wildlife. Accommodation overview: The peaceful village of Finsthwaite nestles amongst large ares of woodland one mile from Lakeside at the southern end of the Lake Windermere and close to Hawkshead and Grizedale Forest. The area offers some excellent walking opportunities, much favoured by Wainwright, including the circular 5 mile walk to High and Low Dam, from where the waters drove the nearby Stott Park Bobbin Mill. High Dam Tarn is a well known beauty spot and where stands Finsthwaite Tower, built to commemorate those servicemen who defeated the French in the 18th century. St Peters Church is well worth a visit, the churchyard home to the grave of the Finsthwaite Princess, believed to be the daughter of Prince Charles Edward, the Young Pretender.

Accommodation overview: Bluebird Cottage sits proudly above Coniston Village and enjoys superb views of the Lake and surrounding fell ranges, sufficient to tempt the most novice of walkers. The village has a good number of amenities for the self caterer although all the local pubs offer bar food during the day and into the evening. Bluebird Cottage was a former quarry workers cottage and has recently undergone a major refurbishment throughout to create an open plan layout, beautifully furnished with stylish new kitchen, bathroom and living space. The two parking spaces to the side of the cottage are a huge advantage and the sitting out area to the front, with lake views, is sure to be well utilised when our typical Lakeland weather will allow!
