Accommodation overview: With partial harbour and sea views, this cosy, comfortable, mid terraced stone cottage is set in a slightly elevated position halfway up the village to one side of a narrow lane which leads to the fishing village and sheltered harbour about a 5 minute steep walk down the hill.

Fronted by a small patio garden, half a dozen steps lead directly up from the road where the front door opens to a lobby area with coat hooks and an inner door into the hallway with a slate flag stone floor. There is a light and airy well-equipped kitchen / dining room at the rear of the cottage, fully fitted with modern units and a pine dining suite, and a wide archway leading to the sitting room at the front with comfortable seating facing the woodburning stove set in the hearth.

Carpeted stairs lead up from the dining area to the first floor landing where there is a bathroom W.C. with hand basin and shower over the bath and a nice and bright double bedroom with pine furniture and partial views looking down over the village rooftops towards the harbour. Rather narrow steep stairs lead to the second floor dividing at the top, to a spacious twin bedded room with views of the cliffs and harbour, and a further twin room with beds tucked under the eaves and sea views. There are electric convector heaters in all of the bedrooms.

A stable door opens from the kitchen to a service yard and a fairly steep flight of steps leading up to an outside W.C. and a small hillside garden providing a pleasant secluded place to sit with views of the sea and coastline. Young children and pets will require supervision in the garden. It is possible to load and unload directly outside the cottage and there is one car park space next door at the back. Further parking is in the public car park about 350 yards away.

The harbour, small shingle beach and all the village amenities are a short walk down the steep hill and there is also a pub offering food and a supermarket at the top of the village. There are lovely coastal walks in the immediate vicinity, and the sandy beaches at Polzeath, Daymer Bay and Rock are about a 15 minute drive, as are two 18-hole golf courses.

Accommodation overview: Equidistant from both the spectacular North and South Coasts and nestling in a lovely tranquil area, this recently renovated pretty 19th century detached cottage stands in a quarter of an acre of mature country garden.  Retaining much of the original charm and character, Westside Cottage provides warm and cosy year round accommodation set in an area of outstanding natural beauty, within half a mile of ancient walks and graded cycle trails through Cardinham Woods.  

The property is approached by a gated gravel driveway with ample parking and a slate path that leads to the front entrance porch and a stable door opening directly into the attractive beamed living room that spans the width of the cottage.  On one side, comfortable lounge seating is arranged before a granite fireplace retaining the original cloam oven and a wood burning stove, and on the opposite side, there is a dining suite next to a stove effect electric fire set within a second granite fireplace. 

Just off from the dining area French doors open onto a small sunny patio.  At the rear, an inner hall has a fully glazed door to the garden and decking area, a bathroom W.C. with hand basin and shower over the bath, a newly fitted kitchen and an adjacent utility room with access to the driveway. 

Upstairs are two pleasant bedrooms with double and twin zip link beds (making a 6ft double if required) respectively, both with beamed ceilings, exposed stonework and window seats overlooking the front garden.  To complete the accommodation,one step leads up to a shower room W.C. with hand basin; the ground floor bathroom and upstairs shower room both benefit from electric underfloor heating and heated towel rails. 

The extensive garden which surrounds the property has a secluded lawn and a pretty curved wooden deck at the rear. A summerhouse at the top of the garden enjoys beautiful views over fields and wooded hills. At the bottom of the garden there is a log store with storage space for bicycles and beach gear. 

Blisland
, 4 miles, has a local store/P.O. and traditional pub facing the village green and Bodmin, 5 miles, has a good selection of shops, pubs, bicycle hire, leisure centre, golf club and Steam Railway.  Bodmin Moor offers walking and solitude and there are cycle trails through Cardinham Woods with the Camel Trail close by.

Accommodation overview: Rosehill Cottage is perfectly situated within the small picturesque village of St Breward, and is nestled away with a large garden and views across the valley. The property which is full of character features and dates back to the 18th century but was recently renovated to provide a wonderful home for a family or couples alike. Rosehill Cottage is a tranquil retreat for guests wishing to escape from it all, yet provides easy access to many magnificent beaches on the North Cornish Coast, as well as the popular fishing towns of Padstow and Port Isaac which is famously known for the Doc Martin series.

With parking for 3 cars outside the property, Rosehill Cottage is accessed via a few small steps and leads straight into a traditional dining room with wood burning stove and original tiled flooring. To one side, a doorway leads into a cosy lounge which provides an open fireplace, television and views across the garden. Straight through from the dining room, a well-equipped galley style kitchen is to the left which also provides a stable door with access straight back into the garden. On the other side of the hallway, the sole bathroom with shower over, WC, basin and traditional tiled flooring is based on the ground floor adjacent to the kitchen and sits at the bottom of the wooden staircase that leads up to the first floor landing.

On the first floor there are two double bedrooms both with standard sized double beds, plus two additional spacious single bedrooms which sit either side of the upstairs landing. To the front of the property there is a large stone driveway which can park up to three cars. The generous sized garden with garden furniture provides views across the valley.

The moorland village of St Breward is the highest and largest on Bodmin Moor. The village provides its own Post Office, village store and The Old Inn pub with restaurant (dating back to the 11th century). The Camel Trail is also very popular with cyclists and easily accessible from the property. A 10 mile drive will take you to the popular fishing villages on the north coast such as Trebarwith, Port Isaac and Polzeath and the larger towns of Bodmin, Wadebridge and Camelford are all within a 10 mile radius.

The Shippen details

The Shippen is in a remarkable,elevated position allowing views that stretch several miles along and across the Yarty River Valley with its pattern of small irregular fields and copses. Families describe The Shippen as being very 'child-friendly'. It is enveloped by accessible woodlands, apple orchards and farm fields.

At the end of a long, shared drive, amids thedge-lined winding lanes, badgers, deer, rabbits, (40 species of moth were counted on a June evening) and various birds of prey are commonly seen and a bluebell wood is a short walk away. A weir pool with a salmon ladder lies along one of the many footpaths nearby. Within five miles, there are three superb local family run farm shops, the River Cottage Canteen, and a choice of nearby pubs renowned for good food and beer.

Cider is made in the main barn and guests are encouraged to help themselves from the barrel. Photography and descriptions can't come close to capturing the scale and loveliness of the surroundings.

Within a 20 minute drive is the seaside town of Lyme Regis, part of the Jurassic Coast, the World Heritage Site famous for fossils. Branscombe, Beer, Axmouth,and Charmouth, are only a little further down the coast. Within an easy 40 minute drive are Dartmoor and Exmoor.

The antiques and second hand book town of Honiton is on the way to the Devon Cathedral city of Exeter. Just over the border into Dorset are many Iron Age hill forts. Astronomy enthusiasts will appreciate the Dark Sky area.
