There is a good variety of museums and galleries, including the American Museum and the Jane Austen Centre. Fishing is also available in the canal (some of the finest coarse fishing waters in the west). Further afield, but within easy driving distance, are the historic coastal villages of Boscastle, Tintagel, Hartland Quay and Clovelly. The well-known Tree Inn at Stratton is 1½ miles, Shop and the Red Post Inn with fish and chips takeaway is ½ mile away.
