Dating back to 1860 this pretty stone built, semi-detached, cottage is set in an elevated position, at the edge of the beautiful village of Axmouth in East Devon. The cottage is comprehensively equipped to provide very comfortable accommodation for four adults and two children. Nestled in a picturesque valley less than a mile from the coast, Hillside is situated in a rural location with pleasant views of the surrounding countryside. The only sounds to be heard in this peaceful spot are the gushing stream at the front of the house and the abundant wildlife. The perfect setting for your Devon cottage holidays.
The cottage is elevated above the laneway and is approached via steps leading to the front door. Downstairs there is a hall, living room with wood burning stove, kitchen/dining room, laundry cupboard and a large power shower room with WC. Upstairs there is a double room, a twin bedroom, a bunk room and family bathroom with large bath and power shower over. Outside there is a formal garden to the front of the cottage and a patio to the rear with steps rising to an area of decking and a picnic table with parasol for outside dining. The garden rises to reveal panoramic views across the valley. A small stone shed houses further outdoor seating and a barbecue. There is private parking for up to two cars adjacent to the cottage and further parking available 50 yards along the lane.
Axmouth village has two very good pubs, The Ship and The Harbour, both of which serve excellent food. The River Axe is within walking distance as is Axmouth Beach at about a mile away. Lyme Regis is around 5 miles to the East, whilst the fishing village of Beer is a few miles west. A large supermarket is around 1 mile away at Seaton, which also boasts the famous Seaton Tramway. The area is very popular with both cyclists and walkers and the nearest golf course is also less than a mile away. River Cottage HQ and the original River Cottage Canteen are within a few miles drive.

The Moors House is a 18th century self catering holiday long house situated in the character village of South Zeal in the northern part of the Dartmoor National Park, Devon.
The holiday home is situated a little over four miles east of the Devon town of Okehampton. Just 15 miles west of Exeter, it is easily accessible from Exeter St Davids, Exeter Airport and the A30/M5.
This luxury holiday house is a short walk to the Devonshire village of South Zeal, which has two friendly public houses both serving food as well as a store and coffee shop. Ideally situated for an outdoor break as you can explore both the Dartmoor National Park and the Tarka Trail which passes through the next village. There are numerous local attractions and places to visit, including Roadford sailing and angling lake, just 20 minutes away.

Accommodation overview: The Shippen details
The Shippen is in a remarkable,elevated position allowing views that stretch several miles along and across the Yarty River Valley with its pattern of small irregular fields and copses. Families describe The Shippen as being very 'child-friendly'. It is enveloped by accessible woodlands, apple orchards and farm fields.
At the end of a long, shared drive, amids thedge-lined winding lanes, badgers, deer, rabbits, (40 species of moth were counted on a June evening) and various birds of prey are commonly seen and a bluebell wood is a short walk away. A weir pool with a salmon ladder lies along one of the many footpaths nearby. Within five miles, there are three superb local family run farm shops, the River Cottage Canteen, and a choice of nearby pubs renowned for good food and beer.
Cider is made in the main barn and guests are encouraged to help themselves from the barrel. Photography and descriptions can't come close to capturing the scale and loveliness of the surroundings.
Within a 20 minute drive is the seaside town of Lyme Regis, part of the Jurassic Coast, the World Heritage Site famous for fossils. Branscombe, Beer, Axmouth,and Charmouth, are only a little further down the coast. Within an easy 40 minute drive are Dartmoor and Exmoor.
The antiques and second hand book town of Honiton is on the way to the Devon Cathedral city of Exeter. Just over the border into Dorset are many Iron Age hill forts. Astronomy enthusiasts will appreciate the Dark Sky area.
