It sits on the banks of Sandy Beck, a haven for wildlife and birdlife, including deer, red squirrels and kingfishers. The Smithy was converted from the former Blacksmiths forge by the owners in 2008. Lorton, Crummock Water and Buttermere are nearby, with spectacular walks on the surrounding fells.
