Accommodation overview: A charming 18th Century cottage situated in the pretty village of Stainton, ideal for a romantic retreat. Gibson cottage was built in 1720 and oozes character, with beamed ceilings, stone flagged floors and a centrally located open fire which opens into both the lounge and the kitchen. Stainton is only 1 mile from Penrith and the M6, so is easily accessible, yet close to Ullswater and centrally located to explore the Eastern Lakes or visit Scotland and the Eden Valley. Stainton has the benefit of a village shop, a farm shop, a hotel and restaurant and a pub, all within a few yards of the cottage. Accommodation overview: Loughrigg Holme sits underneath the much loved fell of the same name and was once the home of Wordsworths daughter, Dora and her husband Edward Quillinan, Rich in literary history connections, visitors to Loughrigg Holme have included Charlotte Bronte, the poet Matthew Arnold and Harriet Martineau. This chocolate box property,originally a farmhouse, built in 17th century and extended in the early 19th century is a beautiful example of a traditional Lakeland residence, her 2 1/2 acres of gardens and fellside including croquet lawn blending effortlessly into the slopes of Loughrigg and displaying a wealth of ancient shrubs and flora, cleverly married with more formal patio, lawn areas and natural water fall. A short stroll directly under Loughrigg Fell will bring you to beautiful Rydal Water, one of Lakelands smallest lakes at only ¾ mile long and ¼ mile wide and a favourite of Wordsworth and many other of the romantic poets and still, to this day, magical, peaceful and most inspiring. Ambleside can also be reached on foot within 20 minutes along a country lane, this bustling village offering numerous attractions and activities for all ages with a wide choice of bars, shops and restaurants. Accommodation overview: A beautiful renovated 18th Century detached cottage with some sea views, just yards from the beach of this peaceful and unspoilt fishing village, set on the sheltered east coast of the scenic Lizard Peninsula facing out over Falmouth Bay.
Entered directly from the road, a covered entrance porch leads into a delightful open plan beamed living room which extends the full width of the cottage, with a stone inglenook fireplace with original bread oven and timber lintel, quarry tiled flooring, double glazed throughout and comfortably furnished to a high standard. At one end of the room is a smart range of Shaker style fitted kitchen units.
The remainder of the ground floor consists of a small bedroom with sturdy 3ft bunk beds more suitable for preteens and two steps up at the rear leads to a bathroom W.C. with underfloor heating, hand basin and shower over the bath and a utility area with an external door to the small service yard.
An open tread pine staircase leads up from the sitting room to the first floor landing and to two bedrooms, a double bedroom overlooking the quiet village and a twin with sea views and an en suite shower room W.C. and wash basin. There are electric convector heaters in all bedrooms. To the side of the cottage is a parking area which leads down to the attractive shingle beach and a 300 year old pub and restaurant.
The cove is a fine base for boating and fishing activities, the south west coastal path is nearby and the bustling village of St Keverne is just over 2 miles away. The lovely village and harbour of Coverack is 4 miles.

Odd Nod is one of a small group of picturesque thatched cottages lying in the beautiful and peaceful hamlet of Coombe Keynes, a place mentioned in the Domesday Book. The cottage is grade II listed and tastefully restored. There is a south facing garden stretching out on to open farmland offering lovely views out over fields. There is great walking both around the cottage itself where hares, pheasants and deer can often be spotted, and owls heard. Coombe Keynes is just around three miles from Lulworth Cove with its sheltered pebble beach, and within easy range of the dramatic and beautiful Dorset coast including Durdle Door. Good country pubs abound nearby, while restaurants and cinemas can be found less than half an hour away in Dorchester and Wareham. From Crediton's historic station, with free car parking, Tarka Line trains run as far as the North Devon Coast at Barnstaple and to Exmouth in the South. There are good walks from a number of stations en route. Journey time, by car, to either coast is approximately 40 minutes. The opportunities for walkers and cyclists in the vicinity of the Farmhouse are many and varied; the Coast to Coast footpath passes within two miles of the property.
The National Trust properties of Knightshayes, Killerton and Castle Drogo are all within a 30-minute car journey of the Farmhouse. They all have lovely gardens as well as fascinating houses. There is a variety of pubs serving food in the surrounding villages, the nearest being a couple of miles away.
