The spacious and well-equipped accommodation offers a relaxing atmosphere with plenty of country walks beside the river and through the fields. There is also alot of wildlife to see including kingfishers sandmartins buzzards and herons maybe an otter or skylark. You can also watch the wildlife on and around the river from the large hide overlooking the River Ottery on the Devon and Cornwall boundary. There are webcams set up to capture the wildlife around the farm which can be viewed on the TV in your cottage you may be lucky enough to watch swallows eggs hatching in the nest or bats leaving an old barn. A wonderful centre for visiting Cornwall and Devon. Many all year round attractions are within easy travelling distance including The Eden Project (purchase discounted fast track tickets available from farmhouse) Plymouth Aquarium Morwellham Quay and King Arthur s Castle at Tintagel. Leisure facilities: visitors can try their hand at clay pigeon shooting or fishing (both fly and coarse) on the beautiful River Ottery or on the smaller Boles Bridge stream which meander though the farm. Close at hand is the safely enclosed heated outdoor swimming pool (May - September). Visitors can experience Classic British Motorcycles when guided by John through the delightful North Cornwall scenery. Bikes include BSA Norton Triumph Panther and Ariel (bring own insurance licence and protective clothing please). Farm activities: meet the farm animals on this organic farm. A beautiful and historic ferryman's cottage, the site of which is mentioned in Jerome K. Jerome's Three Men in a Boat, which is situated directly on the banks of the River Thames, adjacent to the Oxford University Rowing Club.
This unique property, which sits on Edwardian brick arches, overlooks its own private riverside garden and pontoon. On the other side of the river is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a working dairy farm.
The house is on the southern edge of the town of Wallingford, just over an hour's drive from London, 15 minutes from Henley and 20 minutes from Oxford.
Until c.1950 the house was occupied by the Wallingford ferryman, who transported horses, people and freight across the river at the point where the River Thames tow path changed sides. The raised outhouse was the ticket booth associated with the ferry.
Wallingford is a pretty medieval market town situated along the banks of the River Thames. The centre of the town is a five minute walk along either the riverside or quiet roads, and has a picturesque town square with a 17th century arcaded town hall, a number of historic inns and restaurants, three ancient churches, the Corn Exchange theatre and cinema, a large Waitrose and a summer outdoor swimming pool. You can also enjoy the Cholsey and Wallingford Steam Railway, or a walk around the ruins of Wallingford Castle, once one of the largest in the country but largely destroyed by Oliver Cromwell.
There is a town museum and Agatha Christie's home and boathouse nearby. Midsomer Murders was filmed in the town. A bus service runs to Oxford and Reading and the stop is only a few minutes walk away.
You will find the house a restful and fun place, surrounded by the quiet of the Thames, with only its water wildlife for company.

Drakes, along with its sister properties Mallards and Coots, are all located in Hengar Manor Country Park. Situated a few miles inland from the dramatic North Cornwall coastal towns of Wadebridge, Padstow and Camelford and in an area known for its natural beauty, Hengar Manor offers peace and quiet amongst its 35 acres of gardens, woodland and three fishing lakes. On site facilities also include an outdoor woodland playground, as well as indoor leisure centre with swimming pool and slides and a spa and beauty centre. With such comprehensive leisure facilities on site there really is no need to venture further afield, as no matter how the weather is, there is entertainment for all ages on site. For those wishing to explore the area there are many famous towns, villages or gardens to visit close by, as well as gorgeous beaches within a few miles from Padstow to Tintagel.
Drakes is a large 'A frame' lodge style dwelling and is part of a terrace of five properties. Entrance is gained directly from a small front patio, where garden furniture allows you to sit in a nice sunny space. Be prepared to welcome the feathered visitors who regularly come calling for some left-over bread or cakes and who the lodge is named after. Double patio doors open into the open plan living and dining area. This spacious room has comfortable seating for all and a large farmhouse pine dining table. This is an ideal spot to plan what exciting activity to sample next and where meals can be enjoyed. The compact alcove kitchen opens from the inner hallway and provides all the essential equipment needed for holiday meals. However with an on-site restaurant offering Italian food and a tavern bar offering a more traditional menu, you may find you eat in less than expected. The ground floor is completed by a twin room and both a family bathroom with WC and basin, as well as a separate shower room with WC and basin. This offers a very flexible and practical sleeping arrangement. The central open-tread staircase leads up to a further two bedrooms. These two large rooms are almost the same size, offering lots of space, which is ideal if you are travelling with a young child and need to place a travel cot. The spacious master bedroom has the added advantage of a balcony with seating, protected by the pitched roof of the lodge. Heating throughout the lodge is from night storage heaters with extra independent heaters if required, ensuring you stay is warm and cosy all year round. Drakes is a great base for an activity packed family holiday and as it is closely sited next to Mallards and Coots, could be taken jointly with family or friends.

Russett Bramley comprises two of ten luxury lodges in the peaceful, idyllic surroundings of Constable Country, near Stoke by Nayland in Suffolk.
