Accommodation overview: Just one mile from the golden sandy beach at Gorran Haven and three miles from the picturesque fishing harbour of Mevagissey, this detached, double fronted, 19th century cottage is set in the peaceful village of Gorran Churchtown. Recently modernised and benefiting from double glazing and central heating, it offers comfortable and spacious accommodation for a relaxing family holiday and is perfectly situated for touring the whole of Cornwall.
The front door opens to a useful entrance porch with coat pegs and an inner door leads directly into a charming beamed living room which spans the width of the original cottage. There is lounge seating on one side with two settees facing the wood burning stove set on a slate hearth, and a dining suite on the opposite side with a wide hatchway to the kitchen.
In one corner of the lounge, four steps lead up to a second sitting/play room with a sofa bed for alternative sleeping arrangements and French doors leading out to the patio; a perfect place to enjoy your morning coffee. A doorway at the rear of the cottage leads to a newly fitted smart kitchen with a quarry tiled floor and an inner hallway giving access to a fully tiled shower room W.C. with hand basin.
A rather steep carpeted staircase leads up from the hall to the first floor landing where there are a large shower room W.C. with hand basin and three pleasantly light bedrooms with low doorways and a double, single and twin beds respectively.
A door opens from the rear hallway with two steps down to an external laundry room offering storage space of beachgear and three steps continue up to an enclosed lawned garden with a sheltered patio area. There is an off road parking space for one car with additional parking available at the Barley Sheaf Inn nearby.
The small unspoilt village of Gorran has a 15th century church, local shop/post office and a newly refurbished family friendly village pub, all within easy walking distance of the cottage. About one mile away is the sandy beach at Gorran Haven and access to miles of stunning cliff walks along parts of the South West Coastal Path to places such as Dodman Point and Chapel Point.
The working fishing village of Mevagissey is 3 miles away with a popular harbour and plenty of restaurants and pubs, and for a wider selection of amenities the town of St Austell is 9 miles. For garden lovers, the cottage is just 3.5 miles from Caerhays Castle, 4 miles from the Lost Gardens of Heligan, home to Lobbs Farm Shop and a 30 minute drive to The Eden Project. Accommodation overview: Less than a 10 minute drive from the beautiful sandy bays and surfing beaches of Bude and Widemouth Bay, this charming 18th century mid-terrace cob cottage stands to one side of the country lane on the outskirts of the peaceful village of Marhamchurch.
The cottage is perfect for families to enjoy a traditional beach holiday nearby and is also an excellent base for walkers and bird watchers, being within easy reach of the South West Coastal Path, Bude Marshes Nature Reserve and picturesque Bude Canal less than 3 miles away.
Approached through a walled and gated patio garden, the front door set beneath an open porch roof leads into a central hallway with the original slate flagstones and the warm and cosy accommodation which retains much of its character with slightly sloping walls and floors. On one side is a beamed sitting room with comfortable lounge seating arranged before the inglenook fireplace, and on the other side is a pine fitted kitchen/dining room with a farmhouse table and the original cloam oven in the hearth. Both rooms overlook the south facing front patio.
A carpeted staircase leads up from the hall to the first floor landing and two pleasant bedrooms with a kingsize and twin beds respectively, each with its own hand basin and lovely rural views, and an adjacent cot/play room. Two steps continue up from the landing to the rear of the cottage where there are a shower room with hand basin, a separate W.C., and a further double bedroom with hand basin and views of the surrounding countryside and the owners working farm. The additional bed spaces offer a variation for the numbers accommodated.
At the front of the cottage is an enclosed slate paved patio that provides a real sun trap and there is private off road parking for up to 3 cars in a lay-by opposite. The owner lives in a self contained annexe to the rear of the original cottage. Bude, 2.5 miles by road, has a wide selection of shops, pubs, restaurants, leisure centre and bowling alley.
It is possible to walk or cycle along the scenic canal footpath passing through farmland to Bude, and there are numerous opportunities for water sports, coarse fishing, golf and horse riding available locally. The picturesque villages of Boscastle, Tintagel and Clovelly are all within half an hour’s drive.

Trencreek Farmhouse is a superbly appointed detached Grade II Listed Farmhouse set in 7 acres of fields and surrounded by beautiful countryside, ten minutes from the sheltered waters of the south Cornish coast.
This luxury self catering property is 3 miles from the village of Tregony with its shop, pub, farm shop, post office and art gallery and 3 miles from the picturesque village of Veryan. There are some half dozen excellent restaurants and pubs around 10 minutes away. The garden is a haven for children who want to nature spot or build dens and the property benefits from a full sized table tennis table in the adjacent barn.
The Cornish coast nearby offers three fine sandy beaches: Caerhays Beach is just under three miles and the National Trust beaches of Carne and Pendower (together a mile long sandy beach and good rock pooling) are only 4 miles away. The water at Carne and Pendower is particularly good for swimming (you may even spot a seal! ) and the beaches have excellent rock pools.
The village of Tregony is on the Roseland Peninsula, one of the most unspoilt areas of Cornwall and very popular with walkers and those seeking an outdoor break. There are riding stables and tennis courts at Veryan and, of course, sailing, as well as a fine range of galleries and restaurants at St Mawes (9 miles). Fishing trips and chartered outings can be arranged in St Mawes.Fishing trips are available at St Mawes.
Trencreek Farmhouse is ideally situated for exploring the many delights of this area of Cornwall. Places to visit include the cathedral city of Truro (11 miles). Newquay airport is easily accessible. Caerhays Castle Garden is particularly worth a visit in early Spring and hosts a National Collection of Magnolias. The Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan are also within easy reach and are worth visiting year round. Slightly further afield are Rick Stein's various restaurants in Padstow, Jamie Oliver's new Fifteen Cornwall in Watergate Bay, the Maritime Museum in Falmouth and St Ives with its many restaurants and The Tate Gallery. There are a number of National Trust properties and Gardens nearby. The nearest being Trelissick Garden and Trerice Manor.
