Accommodation overview: Less than a 5 minute walk down the hill to the safe sandy beach at Porth, this recently upgraded 19th century mid terrace stone cottage is ideal for family holidays and within easy reach of all the activities that Newquay has to offer about a mile away.
Offering a comfortable and well equipped home from home at any time of the year with gas central heating and an open fire, Cockle Cottage is set on the North Coast of Cornwall yet still in a central position perfect as a touring base for exploring the whole county.
Approached from the parking area where there is space for two cars, one in a lockable garage, a pedestrian gate and a dozen open sided steps lead down through the landscaped garden to the entrance at the rear. A half glazed door opens to a modern fully fitted kitchen with a quarry tiled floor, smart dining suite, additional breakfast bar and patio doors to the front courtyard providing a short cut to the beach.
At the rear, an inner hallway gives access to the warm and cosy sitting room with a high painted beam ceiling and sumptuous lounge seating facing the brick fireplace with open fire.
Carpeted stairs lead up from the hall to the first floor landing where there is a fully tiled bathroom W.C. with hand basin and shower over the bath and two delightful bedrooms in a fresh crisp décor. The master bedroom has a 5ft king-size bed, dual aspect windows and a couple of easy chairs in one corner for reading, relaxing and watching television, and the second bedroom has twin beds.
To the rear of the property is a fully enclosed terraced garden with a sheltered paved patio and raised gravel terrace with garden furniture. The South West Coast Path and the large sandy beach offering easy access and safe bathing at Porth are just 300 yards down the hill with a pub and seasonal shop just a little further.
Newquay’s local shops, pubs and restaurants are a 10 minute walk and the resort centre with a wider selection of amenities including a zoo, Sea Life Aquarium and cinema is about a 20 minute walk away or one mile by car. There are several other beaches in the Newquay area within easy reach including Watergate Bay (home to Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen Restaurant), Lusty Glaze, Tolcarne and Fistral, to name but a few.
Golf, horse riding and ten pin bowling are all available nearby as is coarse fishing at Porth Reservoir and there is a local bus service operating to Newquay, Watergate Bay, Mawgan Porth and Padstow.

Accommodation overview: Situated on the outskirts of the stunning natural port of Fowey and only half a mile from the sandy beach at Readymoney Cove, this comfortable attractive cottage, tastefully converted from a former mill, is tucked into one corner of a small group of stone-built cottages.
Set in over an acre of beautiful communal grounds with children’s play area, picnic benches and barbecues for all the visitors to enjoy, the property has the added bonus of its own private lawned garden area to the front and rear of the cottage.
Approached from the parking area, where there is one reserved space, a couple of steps and gently sloping path lead up to the fully-glazed low front doorway, which opens directly into a living room of great character with natural exposed stonework and a beamed ceiling.
There is a little dining area with pine table and chairs, a galley-style kitchen with light-coloured fitted units and one step leads up to a warm and cosy lounge with seating arranged before an electric coal-effect stove set in the fireplace and a fully glazed back door.
In one corner of the living room carpeted stairs lead up to the first floor landing, where is a bathroom with a W.C., hand basin and shower over the bath, along with two cottage-style bedrooms with pleasant garden views. One is a pine-furnished double bedroom with fitted wardrobe and the other is a children’s bedroom with two 2ft 6in single beds (more suitable for preteens due to the size of the room).
A low patio door opens from the lounge into a small rear garden with a gravel terrace and half a dozen steps leading up to a sheltered lawn with post and rail fencing and garden furniture overlooking the landscaped grounds. Pets must be supervised at all times, as should children when using the play area.
Fowey, half a mile downhill, is a charming waterside town with shops, restaurants, pubs and gift shops, and it is also half a mile by public footpath to the small sheltered beach at Readymoney Cove below St Catherine’s Castle. Pleasure boats leave from Town Quay during the season, there are lovely creek and coastal walks nearby, including The Hall Walk, a ferry crosses the harbour to Polruan and The Saints Way footpath can be taken from Fowey to Padstow on the North Coast.
Lanhydrock House and the Eden Project are a 15-minute drive away, and the picturesque villages of Polperro and Looe can be accessed by the Bodinnick car ferry nearby. There is also a seasonal passenger ferry to the fishing village of Mevagissey.

Accommodation overview: With superb harbour and coastline views from the garden, this grade II listed traditional terraced cottage with accommodation on three floors is tucked into a traffic free area known as The Warren lying in the heart of the picturesque fishing village of Polperro.
Set to one side of a narrow lane that forms part of the South West Coast Path, this quaint cottage benefits from its own unique sun terrace and summerhouse and retains great charm and character with low beamed ceilings and doorways.
Sharing an outer front door and lobby, the inner glazed door opens directly into a rustic beamed kitchen/diner with a bespoke galley kitchen, pine dining suite with a glimpse of the harbour and at the rear, a compact shower room W.C. with hand basin.
A rather steep and narrow rope railed stairway leads up to a cosy sitting room on the first floor with a board and beam ceiling, comfortable lounge seating including a sofa bed, an electric log effect fire and the sound of the sea filling the window. There is also a stable door opening out to a railed flight of ten steps that lead down to the pedestrian lane from which the cottage takes its name and offers an alternative, slightly easier access to the property.
A further steep staircase continues up to the second floor and two cottage style bedrooms; the master bedroom with a 4ft double enjoying a bird’s eye view overlooking the working fishing harbour and a small single bedroom at the rear with trundle bed. There are electric convector heaters in both bedrooms.
From the latter, a low door gives access to the rear hillside garden with nine steps that lead up to a sheltered paved patio and a further nine steps continue up to a south facing wooden sun deck with summerhouse and glorious views over the harbour, rugged cliffs and far out to sea. Young children and pets will require supervision outside.
There is one reserved parking space in the main village car park just under half a mile away and approximately a 10 minute walk - there is no vehicle access to the property however a luggage taxi service is available.
The many cafes, restaurants, pubs, galleries and local shops are close at hand as is the Heritage Museum of Smuggling and Fishing. Seasonal pleasure boat trips depart from the harbour, and the coastal footpath offers fine walks eastwards to Talland Bay & Looe, and westbound to Lansallos & Polruan.
There is a small sandy beach that sits outside the harbour walls and is accessible during low tide, and further beaches can be found along the coast at Talland, Lantivet and Lantic Bays. Looe is 4 miles by road and Fowey 7 miles via the Bodinnick ferry. This property can be rented with next door but one Warren Cottage for larger parties.

Accommodation overview: Sited amongst woods, gardens and three fishing lakes, this large A frame Lodge offers families of all ages a great base for an activity filled holiday. Drakes, along with its sister properties Mallards and Coots, are all located in Hengar Manor Country Park. Situated a few miles inland from the dramatic North Cornwall coastal towns of Wadebridge, Padstow and Camelford and in an area known for its natural beauty, Hengar Manor offers peace and quiet amongst its 35 acres of gardens, woodland and three fishing lakes. On site facilities also include an outdoor woodland playground, as well as indoor leisure centre with swimming pool and slides and a spa and beauty centre. With such comprehensive leisure facilities on site there really is no need to venture further afield, as no matter how the weather is, there is entertainment for all ages on site. For those wishing to explore the area there are many famous towns, villages or gardens to visit close by, as well as gorgeous beaches within a few miles from Padstow to Tintagel. Drakes is a large 'A frame' lodge style dwelling and is part of a terrace of five properties. Be prepared to welcome the feathered visitors who regularly come calling for some left-over bread or cakes and who the lodge is named after. Double patio doors open into the open plan living and dining area. This spacious room has comfortable seating for all and a large farmhouse pine dining table. This is an ideal spot to plan what exciting activity to sample next and where meals can be enjoyed. The compact alcove kitchen opens from the inner hallway and provides all the essential equipment needed for holiday meals. However with an on-site restaurant offering Italian food and a tavern bar offering a more traditional menu, you may find you eat in less than expected. The ground floor is completed by a twin room and both a family bathroom with WC and basin, as well as a separate shower room with WC and basin. This offers a very flexible and practical sleeping arrangement. The central open-tread staircase leads up to a further two bedrooms. These two large rooms are almost the same size, offering lots of space, which is ideal if you are travelling with a young child and need to place a travel cot. The spacious master bedroom has the added advantage of a balcony with seating, protected by the pitched roof of the lodge. Heating throughout the lodge is from night storage heaters with extra independent heaters if required, ensuring you stay is warm and cosy all year round. Drakes is a great base for an activity packed family holiday and as it is closely sited next to Mallards and Coots, could be taken jointly with family or friends.
