The Moors House is a 18th century self catering holiday long house situated in the character village of South Zeal in the northern part of the Dartmoor National Park, Devon.
The holiday home is situated a little over four miles east of the Devon town of Okehampton. Just 15 miles west of Exeter, it is easily accessible from Exeter St Davids, Exeter Airport and the A30/M5.
This luxury holiday house is a short walk to the Devonshire village of South Zeal, which has two friendly public houses both serving food as well as a store and coffee shop. Ideally situated for an outdoor break as you can explore both the Dartmoor National Park and the Tarka Trail which passes through the next village. There are numerous local attractions and places to visit, including Roadford sailing and angling lake, just 20 minutes away.
The beaches are 30 minutes' drive and the Eden Project is just over an hour away. An ideal golfing break, there are numerous golf courses in the area, and for those who enjoy riding there are two riding stables within five miles.

Situated in a beautiful part of North Devon approximately 2 miles from the village of Woolsery which has a post office shop and fish and chip shop. The cottage is adjoining the owner s farmhouse (where a warm welcome awaits but privacy is assured) and opposite a working dairy farm. Enjoys a good size private garden with access to fields that run down to the riverbank and lake. Ideal for summer picnics or for those just wanting to relax and watch the varied wildlife with deer kingfishers otters badgers and foxes often being spotted. The property is only a short drive from the beautiful Devon and Cornwall coastline with its spectacular towering cliffs rocky shorelines and long stretches of sandy beaches. The area provides wonderful walking opportunities with the coastal path and the famous Tarka Trail which gives many miles of safe track for both walking and cycling. Hartland Quay and the picturesque village of Clovelly with its steep cobbled street are also within easy reach. Away from the coast there are lots to see and do with many attractions including RHS Rosemoor Gardens Tapeley Park Gardens and the wide open spaces of Exmoor and Dartmoor with their breathtaking scenery. Long Meadow Barn is a charming, spacious detached converted barn set in the rural village of Down St. Mary. It is the ideal safe rural retreat set within its own garden and yet within easy access of Crediton or Exeter. The surrounding countryside is ideal for walking, cycling and golf with Waterbridge Golf Course less than a mile away. The Two Moors Way runs through Down St. Mary as do a variety of public footpaths. Fishing is also available locally.
There are numerous local country pubs in the surrounding villages, the nearest being The Devonshire Dumpling 1/2 mile away, a short stroll, which serves excellent food. Copplestone, a mile away, features a general store and post office where provisions can be bought. Crediton is seven miles away where there are Indian restaurants which provide home delivery, Chinese takeaways, a leisure centre with public swimming pool, a large Tesco and a smaller Morrisons.
The village of Zeal Monachorum, a couple of miles away, boasts a pub and a small leisure centre that offers an indoor swimming pool, as well as an extensive renowned indoor and outdoor children's play area suitable for all ages which is perfect for those rainy days, skittles, snooker, all of which will entertain the whole family, as well as good food.
Dartmoor National Park is approximately 10 miles away with breathtaking scenery where you can walk and explore the countryside and heritage sites. There are also National Trust properties to explore within easy driving distance such as Castle Drogo, Rosemoor and Knighthayes which offer beautiful gardens and an interesting house. From Morchard Road station,which is 1/2 mile away, the Tarka Line trains run offering lots of walks from a number of stations en route.
Within a short 40 minute drive, there are gorgeous sandy beaches on both the north and south coasts offering sailing, excellent surfing and other water sports. Alternatively, the historic cathedral city of Exeter, 5 miles away, boasts fantastic shopping and numerous excellent restaurants. Sightseeing tours are available or you can explore the Cathedral, underground passages or visit the Northcott Theatre or cinema.

Dating back to 1860 this pretty stone built, semi-detached, cottage is set in an elevated position, at the edge of the beautiful village of Axmouth in East Devon. The cottage is comprehensively equipped to provide very comfortable accommodation for four adults and two children. Nestled in a picturesque valley less than a mile from the coast, Hillside is situated in a rural location with pleasant views of the surrounding countryside. The only sounds to be heard in this peaceful spot are the gushing stream at the front of the house and the abundant wildlife. The perfect setting for your Devon cottage holidays.
The cottage is elevated above the laneway and is approached via steps leading to the front door. Downstairs there is a hall, living room with wood burning stove, kitchen/dining room, laundry cupboard and a large power shower room with WC. Upstairs there is a double room, a twin bedroom, a bunk room and family bathroom with large bath and power shower over. Outside there is a formal garden to the front of the cottage and a patio to the rear with steps rising to an area of decking and a picnic table with parasol for outside dining. The garden rises to reveal panoramic views across the valley. A small stone shed houses further outdoor seating and a barbecue. There is private parking for up to two cars adjacent to the cottage and further parking available 50 yards along the lane.
Axmouth village has two very good pubs, The Ship and The Harbour, both of which serve excellent food. The River Axe is within walking distance as is Axmouth Beach at about a mile away. Lyme Regis is around 5 miles to the East, whilst the fishing village of Beer is a few miles west. A large supermarket is around 1 mile away at Seaton, which also boasts the famous Seaton Tramway. The area is very popular with both cyclists and walkers and the nearest golf course is also less than a mile away. River Cottage HQ and the original River Cottage Canteen are within a few miles drive.
