The cottage is situated one mile north of the unspoilt village of Ireby with the renowned Black Lion pub and 4 miles from the nearest shopping centre which is the bustling market town of Wigton. Cockermouth and Keswick are 12 miles away with the Lake District a short drive beyond. Maiden Moor is an end of terrace cottage in the heart of this tiny village, which lies at the southern end of Derwent Water amidst the most spectacular scenery. There are two cafes in Grange, a public bar in the Borrowdale Hotel, which is a 15 minute walk, and the bustling town of Keswick is five miles.

Accommodation overview: Uncles Cottage is an ideal base for guests arriving on public transport, it is situated 200 yards from the bus stop in Keswick town centre. Shops, pubs and restaurants are literally on the doorstep and there are dozens of lovely walks directly from the town. The owners completely renovated and refurbished the cottage when they took possession from his Uncle in 2010 (no prizes for guessing where the name came from). They have created a pleasant open plan living area on the ground floor, complete with new kitchen. The first floor has been redesigned to improve the bedroom space, a new bathroom was fitted and the ceilings were raised to expose the roof beams.

Accommodation overview: This charming cottage has been architecturally designed, decorated and furnished throughout by an interior designer. It is of historic and literary interest. Hugh Walpole based his novels Herries Chronicle here. Set in extensive grounds comprising garden and woodland with access to Binsey Fell it has the advantage of many other walking opportunities from the doorstep. High Ireby is the location. A hamlet on the northern fringe of the National Park and a very quiet, peaceful area with easy access to Carlisle and the Solway Firth.

The secluded grounds of the family owned Grade 1 listed Blencowe Hall estate contain these three Grade 2 listed cottages which have been sensitively renovated to a high standard.
In addition to its own private garden, parking and seating areas around the property, also contained within the grounds of Blencowe Hall is a tributary of the River Petterill which has brown trout fishing. Other outdoor pursuits can easily be arranged including salmon fishing, clay pigeon shooting, pony trekking, sailboat hire and cycle tours along the popular C2C cycle route which passes through the village. The fantastic views over the Lakeland Hills and peaceful setting make these cottages ideal for walkers or guests seeking a "get away from it all" location from which they can enjoy the Lake District without being overrun by other visitors. The three properties here Cazenovia Hall, Riverain and Wythburn Cottages are less than four miles from the Lake District National Park.
Blencowe is easily accessible from the Penrith train station (three hours direct from Euston) and a 10 minute taxi ride. It is about four miles from Junction 40 of the M6. Other popular local attractions include Hutton in the Forest and its extensive grounds which are just a few miles away, Lowther Castle, and one of Alfred Wainwright's favourite walks in the Lake District which winds along just above the shores of Ullswater and forms a fantastic loop journey with a leg back along the famous Ullswater Steamers.
A stunning conversion of a coach house dating back to the 1700s gives Riverain its welcoming double height oak floored reception room with floor to ceiling arched windows. The massive sandstone fireplace is a focal point for cool Cumbrian evenings and a generous supply of logs as well as underfloor heating ensures guest comfort and relaxation. Riverain's private garden and parking area is set on the South facing side of Blencow and has amazing views over the hills towards Mell Fell.
