Hempstead is a small, sleepy and pretty village just two miles from the picturesque Georgian market town of Holt with its selection of galleries, restaurants and independent shops. Surrounded by the rolling countryside of the Holt ridge, it is an ideal place to explore and is great for cycling, walking, bird watching, golf, sailing and fishing. The coast is only five miles away and the choice is quite diverse from the sandy beaches of Cromer and Sheringham, both Blue Flag, to the shingle of Salthouse and the marshes of Blakeney and Cley. The ruins of Baconsthorpe Castle can be found in the adjoining village; alternatively you could walk to Selbrigg Lake where the River Glaven rises. It is a single storey detached property ideal for someone with limited mobility. Cromer is a traditional seaside resort with a cliff-top setting and wide sandy beaches running down to the sea. It is famous for its fishing boats that still work off the shore and offer freshly caught seafood. The town has a fine pier, a local history museum, a new lifeboat museum, a golf course, multi-screen cinema, cycle hire, shops and restaurants as well as seafront entertainment.
