The kids are going to love it here, but so will the adults, with views across the sea to the scottish hills, magnificent sunsets and miles of walks along the beach.Allonby is a convenient base for day trips to the Borders, Southern Scotland and The Lake District National Park. You could be in bustling Keswick in half an hour or the more peaceful, remote and unspoilt Western Lakes in about 45 minutes. Visit historic Carlisle (30 minutes) with its medieval castle, Norman Cathedral and museum or have a day out at the Roman fort and museum at Housesteads and walk along Hadrians Wall (about 1 hours drive)

Accommodation overview: Lindale is a delightful village in the south Lakes, only 2 miles from Grange Over Sands which can be reached in 5 minutes by car or 40 minutes walk for those more energetic of you. Grange was a popular resort of the Victorians and still today retains an historic feel with the lovely promenade fringed by delightful tea rooms and craft shops. Lindale is well placed for exploring all of the Lakes and Furness Peninsula, Windermere Lake being only only 15 minutes drive. The village itself has a local store, well supported village hall and two pubs offering real ale and excellent food.

Accommodation overview: Row Moor Farm is situated close to both Cockermouth and Maryport, between the Lake District Fells and the Solway Coast. Each of which are within a few minutes drive. You may enjoy gentle walks along the beach or choose more strenuous mountain walks. Cockermouth is famous as the birth place for William Wordsworth but has many other attractions, including The Sheep and Wool Centre, numerous art galleries, the Kirkgate Arts Centre and a good selection of Restaurants, Shops and Pubs. At Maryport there is the Harbour, Maritime museum and Aquarium of the Lakes. The border City of Carlisle is within 30 minutes drive. Barn Cottage and Loft Cottage are adjoining each other on a working farm, next to the owners house. They may be let separately or together for up to 11 people.

Newly built in 2004 and designed with a cottage style in mind, The Spinney is luxuriously furnished and equipped with a Four Poster bed and cosy open fire giving a romantic air to the accommodation. Situated in the village of Lamplugh in a wonderful rural location 6 miles south of Cockermouth, it is close to Loweswater, Ennerdale Water and Crummock Water. This peaceful non-commercialised area of the Lake District is the perfect setting for a romantic break. Fishing is available locally at Cogra Moss, which is within walking distance and there are many other beautiful walks locally. The Coast to Coast cycle route goes past the front door and the award winning Kirkstile Inn is close by for bar meals. Cockermouth is well worth a visit, with shops, restaurants, Brewery Tours and the Lakeland Sheep and Wool centre to name a few of the attractions. Trotters Animal World is a mere 20 minute drive and the seaside town of St Bees is a similar distance.
